Janet has been the coach for the South Maui Sharks since 2000. She began swimming at the age of 12 and started her coaching career in 1986 in Lake Tahoe. Janet moved to Hawaii in 1988 where she developed and helped expand a Masters Swimming program. Since then, Janet has served as the Chairperson for the Hawaii Masters Swimming Association, Race Director for the 2005 Hawaiian Age Group Long Course and Short Course State Championships, Co-Meet Director for the 2002 US Masters Swimming Short Course National Championship that included over 1,000 participants, Race Director for two annual ocean swim races, plus many other county sponsored ocean swim races. In addition, she was the former Assistant Coach for the Maui High School Swim Team where she developed the team's first weight training program. Over the years, Coach Renner has attended swim camps at Stanford University and the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs where she coached alongside some of the top Master coaches in the world. She loves working with kids of all ages, and also coaches the masters program at the Kihei Aquatic Center. She focuses her attention on developing well rounded swimmers and inspiring the swimmers towards a lifetime of fitness. |
